Here are some of the mistakes we see people inadvertently make that hurts their ability to have a successful divorce case.
A lot of times one of the parties just wants to be nice to the other party, they feel bad – maybe they have some type of guilt or shame. And so they say, ‘oh I’m going to walk away’, ‘he can have everything’ or ‘she can have everything’. And that’s never a good thing to do. It’s always good to divide things up; to speak with an attorney before you just give up on everything. A lot of people walk away from retirement accounts or insurance policies, simply because they don’t realize they’re entitled to receive half or a portion of them. Things like that. It’s always good to meet with an attorney, or you could be walking away from substantial assets.

Mr. Eveland represented his business client in court this week and obtained a ruling in his client’s favor. A serious case involving the sale of a business where the prior owner misrepresented facts about the business.
The case is not done yet, but the hearing went in Mr. Eveland’s favor.

Attorney Jared Pearson negotiated a fantastic settlement for his divorce client this week prior to the hearing to amend temporary orders on alimony, child support and visitation. Mr. Pearson’s client had another attorney before coming to Jared’s office. The client’s prior attorney stated that he would need to go to trial to get what he wanted. Through the effective strategies and negotiation tactics employed by Mr. Pearson was able to get his client exactly what he wanted – reduced alimony, reduced child support, and more parent time and no trial in court. The court hearing because a place to memorialize on the record what the parties agreed to.
Congratulations to Mr. Pearson and his client.
