Old Client Pays me a Compliment

It’s nice to meet with old clients. I met with a client this morning who said “You changed my life.” — I said, “for better or for worse?” — my client responded that she was going through a divorce years ago when I assisted her with a legal matter and she indicated that I told her that “it was all going to work out and that things would be okay.”

She said that made her day and that she had taken the advice to heart.

Now, about 5 years later, she came to visit me about another issue and things are going to be just fine this time as well.

It’s always nice to receive a sincere compliment.

Minister = Prophet

In the Words of Joseph Smith, there is a quote as follows: “No man is a minister of Jesus Christ, without being a Prophet.”

My question becomes: what does it mean to be a Prophet? Does being a prophet simply mean that you receive revelation? Does being a prophet mean that only the first presidency and quorum of the twelve can be ministers of Jesus Christ? Your thoughts?

Words of Joseph Smith

“Salvation cannot come without revelation, it is in vain for anyone to minister without it.” This quote by the prophet Joseph ties salvation to revelation. It further ties ministering to revelation. So the question becomes – when did you last receive revelation. When was the last time you had the testimony of Jesus burning within your bosom? Ponder over that for a minute. Let me know your thoughts.

Preparing for Christmas

Most of this week my wife and I have been preparing for Christmas. In our town, that involves doing neighborhood gifts. These are gifts that are given to our neighbors. It’s a great idea, but it does take time and money. Staying up late to get the gifts done was exhausting but I know it will be worth it. Now that they”re done, we’ve got to hand them out. We’ll see what happens.

Sunday is a great day to ponder…

Today I’ve been thinking about what is the most important thing. There are a lot of distractions here. Houses, Cars, Toys, etc. Each is a distraction from what matters most. My son Preston just came in my office and asked to wear my watch. Depending on how emotions are, I usually say that’s fine or no. Today, I say it was fine and put my watch on his wrist. He’s only 4 so it might get broken, but it really doesn’t matter does it? No, it doesn’t. It’s just a watch. That helps me to think about what is the most important thing. Family is clearly toward the top of the list.
