Good Listening

I agree with this. I’ve been asked before about listening.

I hope that people think of Jeremy Eveland or they look at Jeremy Eveland Facebook page or consider the things I have said or done that they will think I am a good listener.

But the truth is, sometimes I’m not a good listener.

Sometimes, I find myself deep in thought and not able to see the other side.

I think that this behavior is handicapping.

I think I need to be a better listener.

I don’t know anyone, myself included, who can do better at listening.

I will do better today to listen to others. Show empathy and express love towards others.

I invite you to do the same.

We call can do it.

We all have it within ourselves to listen and understand rather than to judge and express disdain, hate, or anger.

If we can listen, truly listen, not just hear the words of others, we can show them that we care.

So, I’ve been reading The Notes, which is a collection of handwritten notes that Ronald Reagan kept. The book is essentially a quote book that has thoughts about different matters that were important to Ronald Reagan.

This one caught my attention.

I think Goethe had it right. I believe that the truth must be taught over and over and over again. We all forget things … even those things that are true and important. We must continually be on the search for knowledge and truth.

How do you find it?

Time Blocking

Blocking Out Time So You Can Focus and Get “stuff” Done Is Essential To Success.

It’s true.

If you want to get something done you must take the following steps:

1. Turn off the TV, radio or anything that could distract you.

2. Turn off your phone.

3. Put your office phone on DND (do not disturb).

4. Close your door. (if necessary, put a note on your door to not knock or disturb you – aka “go away!”

5. Close out of all applications you’re not using.

6. Then get to work.

This process has always worked for me.

I believe it will work for you.
